Happy new year

I'm totally ready for tonight. I hope everyone has a nice and safe new year.

Is that?

Yes, it is. Me in color. Looking sweet and innocent for the new year. Wonder if I'm fooling anyone. ;)

Future AGF fan

My nephew looks good in my jersey. However, he probably needs it in a smaller size. ;)

No santa hat

So Christmas is over and so is the santa hat period. I need a haircut. A lot. ;)

This one time I got drunk and …

So I've done a lot of stupid things when I've been drunk. Haven't we all? Actually I've done enough stupid and silly things that I'm not sure where to start! Most memorable was probably when I lost my purse and with it my passport, my VISA card, my phone, and the key for my hotel room. That's also the only time drinking has had serious consequences for me.

Many times I've woken up with bruises. Sometimes I can't remember how I got them. Sometimes I can and wish I would have been wiser. Like the time when I knew I was to drunk to by riding my bike. But Thomas -- as the nice friend he is -- convinced me that I could totally ride my bike. Drunk, I thought to myself, "Well, I'll just ride it really carefully." Which led to me crashing after approximately 1 meter because I didn't drive fast enough to be able to keep my balance. I've had another bike accident while drunk. Here I wasn't smart enough to realize that I shouldn't be riding it. Lars told me I was way to drunk but I didn't believe him. Until I crashed while trying to climb the bike. Yeah, he was right and I walked home.

Some times things are just so stupid that you have to wonder how you could ever think it was a good idea. Like when we tried falling in groups. So what do I mean by "falling in groups", you ask? Well, we got up, 4 people, shouted "FALDGRUPPE!" and then fell in some direction. I've never been so covered in bruises as I was the next day. I could barely walk normal. Why would we be so stupid, you ask? Well, our friend Lisbet talked about how some time ago it was very modern to be falling in groups. Neither of us had ever heard of such a thing. But then again, we were also all younger than the Internet. Apparently people used to fall in large crowds and it didn't hurt. Or so Lisbet said. It turned out to be false. Even when you're drunk you should realize that thoughts like "Wow. It didn't hurt this time. That was different!" means that you're doing something stupid. But we didn't realize. We even broke a chair when we all fell onto it. Another source, also older than the Internet, has later confirmed that people actually used to do this some time ago. However, it is apparently essential that you are in a crowd instead of being just 4 people.

Another time I was just lucky that nothing worse happened to me. People were swinging around street lights and I though to myself "I can totally do that". So totally pole dancing style I ran and grabbed the street light and swung around it. It was all nice and good until my hands slipped and I fell down on the street and slammed the back of my head into the asphalt. Luckily nothing serious happened, I was just very sore the next day.

I've also passed out from drinking before 12. "No big deal, everybody has done that at some point." you say? Well, I'm not talking midnight, I'm talking noon! When the young and unspoiled people started at the university, Thomas and I decided to bring Gammel Dansk and drink a shot for each person starting at the university. We didn't manage to drink quite that much but we got our fair share. The last thing I remember is that we're sitting in a friend's office and run out of GD. Thomas leaves to buy a new bottle. I can vaguely remember him returning. The next thing that happens is that I dream that my then boyfriend and Thomas are walking me home, me with an arm around each of them because I could barely stand. Still, I tried to convince them that it would all go much faster if they would just let me run. When I woke up in my bed and talked to my bf, I realized it wasn't a dream. My body was covered in drawings and I was still drunk. When I checked my sent messages, I saw messages I had no recollection sending. Most notable was the one with the text "Hjælp+++", or in English "Help+++". Never before or since have I been so drunk as I was that day.

And then there was the time when I chatted up the alcoholic at my favorite bar. That was not a good choice. And oddly enough as I'm writing this, I'm recovering from my hang over after yet another evening of doing stupid things. But I don't plan on learning. Ever! ;)

Welcome home!

Thomas is finally back from Australia. Yay! :D

My old one broke a long time ago. Now I finally have a new one to play with! :D Yeah, I'm such a big child! ;)

I totally digg this t-shirt! ;)

Back up santa hat

My other santa hat smells like smoke. Lucky I have this one. I stole it by accident last year I think. I borrowed it while drinking and had every intention of returning it. However, I forgot who I took it from. ;)

Kom så de hvi'e!

Fuck fags!

Not the homosexual kind, the disgusting kind! As much as I hate smoking, I must admit I think the stripes on this pack look cool!

I'm such a geek

Given that I study computer science it really shouldn't come as a surprise that I'm a geek. However, since I'm usually surrounded by fellow geeks, I hardly notice. But then sometimes stuff will happen, situations will occur, where it is blatantly obvious that I'm a geek. Such situations could be the one time I went to the Friday bar when my code wasn't working. It was a project in groups and I was really annoyed that the code just didn't do the right thing. I was even more annoyed that it was probably one or more off by 1 (or more) errors and I felt like I checked the entire code for those already. Obviously I didn't. Well, after an hour or two in the Friday bar I simply couldn't stand it anymore. I left and went to my office to code. A few hours later I returned yet again happy and ready to drink. I found the bug in the code. Naturally, it wasn't code I'd written that failed. :) But apparently I had just enough alcohol in my blood to find the error nonetheless.

Another example also takes place in the Friday bar. A friend and I had been separated at some point during the evening. Wondering if I was okay, he sent me a text message with the text "Ping". When you receive messages like that, it's already a pretty good sign that you're a geek. When you respond with "Pong", it's an even bigger sign. When you tell the story to your friends and they look at you with a "Well, what else would you reply?" look, it's further supporting evidence.

Then there are my adventures with Google. First I tried writing "good" in some other context. It came out "googd". Has happened. Twice. Actually, just as I wrote "good" before, it came out "goog". I've also tried googling something that I found perfectly innocent only to get surprised when I got the result. Yesterday I was writing a report and I needed to use big O notation. I was writing in LaTeX as any self respecting geek would. While I could have just used O, I knew that you could get cooler looking big Os in LaTeX. I just couldn't remember how (in case you wonder, use \mathcal{O}). So naturally I turned to googling the words "big o latex". The first result was related to LaTeX but didn't help me. The next result was sexual and I wondered why for a split second. Then I realised "Oh, that big O! But how is that related to LaTeX? Oh, latex!"

I can also just look at my pet peeves. When people can't pronounce LaTeX, I insist on telling them that they are pronouncing it wrong and the last letter is not an x but the Greek letter Chi. Another thing I hate is mismatched parentheses. I physically feel a bit worse when I see a dangling left parenthesis (or any other thing that should come in pairs like for instance [] "" or {}). And people who think that the happy mouth on a smiley counts as closing a parenthesis. You're wrong! Smiley mouths in general should not come in pairs. And they cannot just be paired with other things that should come in pairs. Just close your parenthesis, will you! Please!

So yeah, I'm a geek. But I like it!

Dinner part two

This is more like it! :D

Dinner

It's kinda sad that I'm eating that in exactly that form. It's more sad that I don't have time to go to the Friday bar.

All alone

It's so late that everybody else has left the building. We are still working. I wish we were coding but we're just writing on our report. We are good! ;)

Clean again

I just did the dishes so now my kitchen once again looks nice. I must admit, though, that it was a bit sad when I cleaned the plate with chocolate-covered bacon. While it wasn't an awful snack, you would just expect more from putting two such good things together.

Why?

So you place a mirror on the ladies toilet and it's the same hight as my feet. What the fuck?!

Clean clothes

It shouldn't really be a blog-worthy even. It is, however.

T'is the Season to be Jolly

Christmas is without a doubt my favorite season. I get even more happy than I usually am because Christmas is all about happy times with family and friends. Unlike other people I actually somewhat enjoy picking presents for people and thinking about their reaction when they receive them. However, some people have no shot whatsoever at making it to my "nice" list. These people include but are probably not limited to:

  • Spammers. Ha, according to my spell check that's not even a word. I like that! But boy, do I hate spammers! I hate noticing a new e-mail and full of anticipation open my mail program only to find that it's spam. If only I had a better spam filter.

  • People that forward chain letters. There's a word for that. It's spam! I don't want to participate in any virtual snowball fight. I don't care if I'll die a horrible, horrible death, be forever unlucky in love, never have my dreams come true, and/or some other terrible thing. Don't forward me that shit! If you see something that you truly think I'll find funny/enlightening/interesting/whatever, please do send me an email. Otherwise, no.

  • People who think freedom of speech should be limited. I think people should be allowed to say whatever they want. Sure, some of it will hurt or offend other people. But I don't think there is such a thing as "the right to not be offended". And I don't think there should be. However, when people can freely say ridiculously stupid or offending things, I get the chance to ignore them, leave, tell them just how ridiculous it is, or whatever else I might choose. Sure beats not knowing if people secretly are idiots.

  • People who think feminism is about any of the following things:

    • Hating men;

    • Not shaving your legs/not wearing makeup/not wearing a dress; or

    • Any other absurd claim that has nothing do to with equality.

Feminism really isn't a complicated concept. Try looking it up in a dictionary: "the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes". Not complicated. I believe strongly in equal rights and opportunities for all people. Ability and actions should be the determining factors. Not some arbitrary division of people into different groups. I hope you too are a feminist.

  • People who think gender is an explanation for anything. Phrases not acceptable in conversations with me include but are definitely not limited to:

    • "Boys will be boys!"

    • "He can't help it. He's a man."

    • "Oh, you don't get that, you're a girl." or "That's unusual for a girl."

    • "Women are just more nurturing."

    • "Oh, I can't stand being in a group with only women. There's just so much chitchat."

    • "Women are very useful in IT because they have better communication skills so they can communicate with the customer and ensure he gets the right IT-system."

One of the nice things of (1) growing up with a stay-at-home dad and a mother that works as a programmer, (2) love football (the kind where you play with your feet. Not the kind where you run with the ball in your hands.), and (3) study computer science is, that people often reveal fairly quick if they think like that. Makes it easier for me to avoid them.

  • People who utter, "Men and women are different, but equal." Not that there's anything wrong with that per se. I mean, all people are different so it shouldn't come as some big surprise that if you compare a man and a woman, they'll be different. However, all the times I've heard people state this they don't mean "people are different". They mean "women are like this" and "men are like this". See the point above.

  • People who don't accept responsibility for their own actions.

  • People who think that calling somebody a homosexual is somehow an insult.

  • People who think sex is evil. As long as it happens between consenting adults, I really don't get why people would have a problem with it. The same goes for the sex industry. As long as we're talking consenting adults, I see no reason why people shouldn't be allowed to make money from sex.

So yeah. A lot of people wont be getting any presents from me. However, I believe people have the ability to change. So merry Christmas! :) Or, if you don't celebrate Christmas, "Merry December!" :)

At least sort of.

Low tech calculations

I'm not a fan of paper since it gets all messy so I never carry any with me. However, calculations are sometimes faster to do by hand. And that's why napkins exist! ;)

Finally!

We won! We beat FCM 2-0! :D I'm so happy! :D It's better against stress than just shouting. ;)

Stressed out

I'm having way to many deadlines at the moment but when I go to watch AGF play it doesn't matter. For a few hours I get to think about one thing only while shouting until my throat gets sore. :)

Slowly recovering from the house warming party

Now my bed is okay again. The only thing missing now is me cleaning the apartment.

Tuesday, November 27, 2007

This is absurd

No idea how Michael managed to make my pot look like that. I managed to clean it, though. Yay me! ;)

Monday, November 26, 2007

This is not what I wanted!

Postponed for now because of frost in the field. For real! :@

Second away jersey

I couldn't resist! :)

Go AGF

Ready for the stadium! :)

Impressive

10 cans with at least half a beer left. Impressive, because the number of alcohol drinking guests last night was less than 10.

Mess

My apartment has looked nicer than it currently does.

Trapped!

I'm trapped in my own bed while people do their magic in my kitchen.

Ready for visitors

I'm having a house warning party today and my fridge is totally ready! ;)

In case anyone visiting me didn't know

I'm still excited about the victory over Viborg. :D

Monday, November 12, 2007

Yeah baby, yeah!

We won! 0-2! :D

Viborg is a fun city!

It may not be apparent, but they have toilets for guys. And guys who spread their legs. That's sorta fun. ;)

0-2!

My first away match is turning out great!

In your face, Viborg!

Viborg - AGF

I'm going to watch AGF today. It's a super important match and I can hardly wait! Oh yeah, it's also my first match where my team is playing away. I'm so excited! :D
